Thorsten

ThorstenWhy and since when have you supported Bayern Munich?

I was six years old and just got to school. All in my class were supporting either Lüdenscheid or Bayern. But with the likes of Auge or Matthaeus the decision was fast being made.

Why did you sign up to join the Red Dragons London?

Founding the fan club seemed a logical consequence having noted so many supporters in the BB watching the match either alone or in small groups.

What do you particularly like about the Red Dragons?

It is the tremendous people who make this club worth the extra effort.

Rick

RickWhy and since when have you supported Bayern Munich?

I was attracted to German football from the start, and in 1981 just before my ninth birthday it was a choice between FC Bayern and HSV. When FCB played Liverpool in that year’s European Cup semi-final, my mind was made up. Since that day, my heart would always beat for Bayern!

Why did you sign up to join the Red Dragons London?

After spending thirty-three years watching FC Bayern and having to both celebrate and suffer on my own, when I found the Red Dragons I couldn’t wait to sign up!

What do you particularly like about the Red Dragons?

The camaraderie, the family atmosphere among the members and the one thing we all have in common: FC Bayern München!

Greg

GregWhy and since when have you supported Bayern Munich?

Everything started when watching the memorable Champions League final in 199T and I was wearing my beloved Trikot 19 of Jancker. I really gave huge credit for Die Roten, even they still lost the game. After victory in 2001 I had no doubts who is strongest football heart. Nothing has changed my feelings so far!

Why did you sign up to join the Red Dragons London?

I have signed up for Red Dragons because it became obvious very quickly it will take me closer to FCB and into the fans’ world.

What do you particularly like about the Red Dragons?

It is a shared idea of creating Bayern community in London for fans. MIA SAN MIA!

Terry

TerryWhy and since when have you supported Bayern Munich?

I have supported Bayern as long as I can remember, remembering the hat-trick of European Cup victories in the mid-seventies as my main inspiration.

Why did you sign up to join the Red Dragons London?

I signed up for Red Dragons as a way of watching FCB with fellow supporters in the UK, having spent too long watching on my own.

What do you particularly like about the Red Dragons?

Within the club I love the comradeship and the atmosphere at the BB on match days! Bayern is my life, I can’t imagine life without FCB!

I was influenced by my older brother at the age of six.

Why did you sign up to join the Red Dragons London?

Because I love FCB and wanted to find a group of people that thought the same way.

What do you particularly like about the Red Dragons?

About the Dragons I like the group viewings on every match at the Stammtisch and the great people that are in this club 🙂

I was born and bred in Munich, growing up there in the 80s when there were still two football clubs of significance: FC Bayern München and 1860 München. Who you chose as “your” club very much depended on which team your family and/or older friends supported. Luckily that was Bayern in my case or else I would now suffer a severe case of depression! I’m not sure when I started to actively support them, but I’m pretty sure it started in second or third grade… which I attended in 1981!

Why did you sign up to join the Red Dragons London?

Having lived abroad for more than eight years now I was constantly jealous to hear about my friends back in Munich watching games together and going to Allianz Arena. While I’m blessed with a wife who is also a Bayern supporter (and kids who are rapidly turning into superfans themselves), there’s nothing like watching matches with a group of fans who are just as crazy about the club I love as I am. I had the good fortune to get a ticket to Wembley stadium to see Bayern beat Dortmund to win the Champions League in 2013, but I was sitting in the neutral zone all by myself, jealously watching the fan crowds in the Bayern corner. Shortly thereafter I began searching online to see if there wasn’t a fan club in London I could join… And lo and behold, I found the then fledgling Red Dragons, joining them later that year.

What do you particularly like about the Red Dragons?

Even though it takes me more than hour to get to the Stammtisch (this city is just too darn big!), I try to make it as often as possible. This is a very welcoming club, I felt right at home from the first time I showed up – but what I like most is probably the diversity of its members. There’s the German expats that you’d expect, but there’s also people from the UK as well as from all over Europe (resulting in friendships with other fan clubs in many different countries). It’s always fascinating to talk to new members and find out where they’re from and what made them Bayern München fans. I also love the general sense of camaraderie and friendship – it doesn’t matter whether you show up occasionally or if you are one of the regulars, the Dragons are always making sure that everybody feels like they’re part of a big family.

KarimWhy and since when have you supported Bayern Munich?

I guess I supported Bayern since birth as did my father and grandfather and forefathers. Its a passed on love for Bayern Munich.

Why did you sign up to join the Red Dragons London?

I tagged along a trip to Manchester with the Red Dragons last year and I really felt the camaraderie – being part of something bigger.

What do you particularly like about the Red Dragons?

Red Dragons has a family feel – and each member loves the same thing, Bayern.

Máté

MátéWhy and since when have you supported Bayern Munich?

I have supported Bayern Munich since I was five years old (1990). My father always supported Bayern and watching the Bundesliga from week to week with him since I was a little kid made me choose a German team as I became a fan of German football. Then seeing players like Augenthaler, Ziege, Effenberg, Thon etc. made my decision even easier.

Why did you sign up to join the Red Dragons London?

I signed up as it was boring watching Bayern games online and wanted to meet other people who supported the team. Going with them to see our beloved team live in the stadiums and supporting Bayern is better than an orgasm. Well, almost!

What do you particularly like about the Red Dragons?

I like that our fan club is very very organised (thanks to our chairman), always looking for improvement and new members, and keeps in touch (by emails, Facebook, Twitter) with the members very often. And of course not to forget to mention that the board always tries to accommodate the members by trying to get tickets for Bayern games.

Maren

MarenWhy and since when have you supported Bayern Munich?

I’ve supported Bayern ever since I can remember. I was born close to Munich and my Dad is a Bayern fan so I got bred into it from a very young age. I got my first official shirt when I was 8 with Elber No. 9 on the back, one of my favourite ever players.

Why did you sign up to join the Red Dragons London?

Because it’s great to share our passion for our team and get together and watch the games. Everyone in the Red Dragons London is a true fan and the spirit is great.

What do you particularly like about the Red Dragons?

Like I just said, the spirit and atmosphere is great. Everyone is committed and dedicated to Bayern. I am very much looking forward to my first trip to the stadium with Red Dragons!
